This is Part 1 of 3 of 'Pro Photo Actions' Color and Tone Set. In this before/after tutorial we will see the most popular Cross Processing effects and some other techniques used in Digital Photography today. Cross-processing is a photographic technique where the E6 slide film is processed in the chemicals that is ideally used to process C41 print film. Cross Process High Contrast:
The Cross Process High Contrast action works best on medium to low contrast images. All the layers in this action are individually editable.
Cross Process Low Contrast:
The Cross Process Low Contrast action works best on medium to high contrast images. All the layers in this action are individually editable.
Cross Process E6:
Cross Process C41:
This is a stronger version of cross process and looks best in high key images in studio or bright sunlight. It brings an ordinary busy street scene shot in bright sunlight to life and adds interest. Here is an example of a high key image shot in sunlight with fill flash.
The 'Cross Red' action gives the darkest shadow areas of the image a red tone. This action works very well on B&W and Color images of any type.
Cross Faded Red:
Based on the 'Cross Faded' action, this action adds only the red tone and haze to the shadow areas of the image. This action works very well with low key images.
The 'Cross Blue' action gives the darkest shadow areas of the image a blue tone. This look is popularized by photographer Camilla Akrans. This action works very well on B&W and Color images of all type.
Cross Faded Blue:
Based on the 'Cross Faded' action, this action adds only the blue tone and haze to the shadow areas of the image. This action works very well with low key images.
Inspired by the movie poster of Ultra Violet, this action gives the image a UV bath and lightens the skin tone to white. It works very well on beauty shots and fashion series with lots of bright colors.
This action works very well with high key outdoor shots. This action adds the 'cool' factor and works very well with a band promo shoot on outdoor locations.
This action give a cool tone to the image and is used widely in movies like 'Twilight' etc. It works fine on any image and all layers are editable for fine tuning.
This action is a high contrast action and works well with images having medium to low contrast. It has a slight blue tint in the midtones.
This action adds a fully adjustable purple haze on the image. This look works very well with some outdoor fashion series and images of couples and kids.
This action gives an underwater feel to the image. This works very well when you have a lot of neutral tones in the background. The skin tone is also much lighter, the way it should be under water and is adjustable for fine tuning. This action can be used for creating underwater special effects. Take a look at this action on an image with mostly gray colors below.
Deep Purple 1:
Deep Purple 2:
Similar to Deep Purple 1, this action also gives a purple tint to the image, but works better on high contrast images.
Sunny Cross Red:
This action is a warm version of the "Cross Red' action above. Besides adding red to the shadows, it adds a slight creamy look to the highlights.
